Healthcheck service
The delivery of the Healthcheck will provide you with the comfort that your Business Intelligence solution is of the highest possible quality, recommend areas of improvement and ensure that you achieve optimal return on your investment in the Cognos products. The service is designed to be strategic in that it will look backwards at work completed but will place recommendations in the context of enhancement opportunities and next steps.

Questions will be answered such as:
  • What business considerations need to be addressed to gain maximum benefit from Business Intelligence?
  • What technology challenges need to be met to serve existing and future Business Intelligence requirements?
  • What skills will be required to maintain and deploy quality Business Intelligence solutions?

Key Activities

The BI Health Check will be delivered by a senior Cognos consultant with experience in many projects in many different organisations.

A number of key tasks will be involved:
  • A meeting with the project sponsor to understand the project “vision”.
  • A workshop with representatives of the user community to ascertain the requirement and level of expectation.
  • A workshop with the development team to review the approach used and project progress.
  • The preparation of a BI Health Check Report.
  • A review meeting to communicate the findings in the report.
  • Setting the expectation correctly

The service is intended to provide a positive influence on the quality of your solution. This service may sometimes be seen as “threatening” to a project team so it is essential to explain the process clearly to every participant before a BI Health Check is delivered. The expectation should be set that this is an opportunity for quality enhancement not a “post mortem” process.
